HUNMANBY SILVER BAND
Hunmanby Silver Band is a friendly, noncontesting band, based in Hunmanby village. We are approx—8 miles southwest of the resort of Scarborough. We are one of the few remaining full-complement brass bands operating on the North Yorkshire coastal strip. The band's emphasis during performances is on entertainment, playing music targeted at audience participation and enjoyment. We are an open-door band and welcome visiting musicians to our rehearsals every Sunday (unless the band is engaged) at Hunmanby Community Centre from 10.30 am - 12.30 pm. Also Thursday evenings from 7.30 pm - 9.30 pm. (please see Engagement Page /News page )
Our musical director
the legendary Mr Graham Walker.
Graham, when he was playing in Yorkshire Imps, in the 70s
We were extremely fortunate 12 years ago to obtain the services of the nationally respected conductor and 1971 champion cornet player of Great Britain Graham Walker, as our musical director who retired to Filey after a career as a professional musician. His influence since joining us has resulted in greatly improved playing standards within the band and his reputation has attracted experienced players to our ranks.
